What is it like to live in Nampa?

What is the housing like?

A wide mix: older homes near downtown and Lakeview Park, mid-century neighborhoods, manufactured homes, and large newer subdivisions on the edges of town. The typical home is worth about $415,000, about $85,000 below the typical Boise home, and values rose about 1.8% in the past year.

What about downtown and shopping?

Nampa has a real downtown with local restaurants, shops and a public library, plus big-box and chain shopping near the I-84 interchanges. The Ford Idaho Center hosts concerts and events. Most errands can be done without driving to Ada County.

What about parks and the outdoors?

The city runs the Nampa Recreation Center, a large indoor gym and pool complex, and a network of parks including Lakeview Park. Lake Lowell and the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge are just southwest of town for boating, birding and walking.

What is the town's character?

Nampa is a working city with farm and food-processing roots, home to Northwest Nazarene University and a sizable Hispanic community. It added about 20,000 people from 2020 to 2025, mostly in new subdivisions on the edges. It is less polished than Boise or Meridian, and quality varies a lot from neighborhood to neighborhood.
