What is it like to live in Middleton?

What is the housing like?

Mostly newer single-family subdivisions, many with HOAs, around a small older core along Main Street. The typical home is worth about $507,000, the highest of the Canyon County cities and slightly above the typical Boise home.

What about downtown and shopping?

Middleton has a small downtown and a few everyday stores and restaurants. New commercial space is planned, including at the River Walk Crossing development, but for now most residents drive to Nampa, Caldwell, Star or Eagle for bigger shopping.

What about parks and the outdoors?

The town sits just north of the Boise River, and the city runs a Parks and Pathways department. Open farmland surrounds much of the town. Larger regional parks, the Greenbelt and the foothills trails are a drive away in Eagle and Boise.

What is the town's character?

Small and family-focused, mostly a bedroom community with a farm-town past. It grew about 33% from 2020 to 2025. Highway 44 runs right through downtown, and a widening, bypass or one-way pair has been debated for decades; early estimates run $250 million to $370 million with no funding source named as of 2025.
