What is it like to live in Meridian?

What is housing like?

Mostly single-family homes in subdivisions built since the 1990s, many with HOAs, plus a growing number of townhomes and apartments. The typical value is about $536,000, up about 1% over the past year. Older, smaller homes are near the original downtown.

How close are downtown and shopping?

Meridian has its own shopping: The Village at Meridian and the stores along Eagle Road and Fairview Avenue. The small historic downtown on Main Street and Idaho Avenue is growing but quiet. Downtown Boise is a freeway drive.

What about parks and the outdoors?

The city runs a large parks system with sports fields and big community parks such as Settlers Park and Kleiner Park, plus a city pool and golf course. There are no foothills trails in town; plan a 30-minute drive for those.

What is the character of the city?

Family-oriented and suburban. It grew about 21% from 2020 to 2025, and roads and schools have struggled to keep up on the north and south edges. It has its own police department and library district, and many residents work in Meridian or commute to Boise.
