How we choose what to write, and how ads work

Our guides are written to help newcomers, not to sell anything. We plan to show ads and offer paid Featured partner listings in Local pros to keep the site free. Both will be clearly labeled, kept separate from guide text, and never change what a guide says.
Official sources come first. For providers such as hospitals, utilities and schools, we list the main options in each area, including public and nonprofit ones. No business pays to be included in a guide or to change what it says.
Only in Local pros. A basic listing is free for every business that passes our checks. A paid Featured partner upgrade gets top placement in its category and is always labeled “Sponsored.” Featured partners may also appear in a labeled box on related guide pages, apart from the guide text. Payment never changes how a business is screened or what a guide says.
Ads will be marked as ads and placed apart from guide text. Advertisers don’t review or approve our content. If an ad network uses cookies, our privacy policy will say so before ads appear.
Not at this time. If we ever add them, each one will be labeled.
No. We are not affiliated with any government agency, realtor, lender or mover. We link to official sites so you can confirm everything.
No account is needed. Checklist progress and tool settings are saved only in your own browser.
