What else do people ask about public safety?

How do I start a neighborhood watch?

Boise Police supports Neighborhood Watch groups and has a guide to starting one. Meridian Police runs its own program. In other cities, call the non-emergency line and ask for the community or crime prevention officer. Many neighborhoods also hold National Night Out events in early August.

Who do I call about a barking dog, loud party or abandoned car?

Call the non-emergency number for your city. Use 911 only for emergencies.

How do I check crime near an address?

Boise has a public crime map, and the Ada County Sheriff has CrimeMapper for Eagle, Kuna, Star and unincorporated areas. Our safety guide has crime rates for each city and links to both maps.

How do I get emergency alerts?

Each county runs its own alert system for wildfire, flood and evacuation notices. See our alerts guide to sign up.
